Mrs. Thomas

Special Education Teacher

I have been blessed to work at Ranches Academy since 2019, beginning as a Teacher’s Assistant. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with both 5th- and 2nd-grade students, and I truly loved each experience.

In December 2023, I completed my dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I completed part of my student teaching in a 2nd-grade classroom and finished the Special Education portion at Vista Heights Middle School in their Social, Emotional, and Behavioral classroom. Following my student teaching experience, I was hired part-time at Vista as a Resource teacher for the remainder of the 2022–2023 school year. I then began my first full year teaching Special Education at Ranches Academy during the 2023–2024 school year.

Special Education is especially meaningful to me. I am the mother of four amazing children, including my 23-year-old son, who is nonverbal and has Autism. Being his mother has taught me deep empathy and the importance of advocating for individuals who may not be able to advocate for themselves. Outside of school, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our children, traveling, and singing karaoke together.

"Every child deserves a champion. An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be."-Rita Pierson
