Biography

Hello! My name is Mrs. Smoot. I am originally from Provo, Utah. I moved away to attend college and play basketball. I attended The College of Idaho. There I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and a minor in Elementary Education. I also received my Masters in Education. For the first six years of my teaching career I worked at a school in Layton. I taught 5th grade for four years and then for two years I worked part-time as a math mentor.  I have been at the Ranches since 2013. I have worked with children most of my life, and I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. I am married, and I have three beautiful children. I love to read, play and watch sports, and hike and camp with my family. We love the Eagle Mountain area and all it offers our family.

I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade here at the Ranches Academy. I have learned that involved parents are a huge asset to a successful education. My door is always open and I hope you will feel free to communicate about any concerns you might have about your student. This can be done by phone, email or face to face. I will also keep you updated on any concerns I have, but will also let you know when your student is doing well. I believe that achievements are also things that parents should be notified about. I look forward to getting to know you and your student.
