Biography

Hi! My name is Becky Anderson and I am the new 6th grade teacher! While I am new to teaching, I am not new to The Ranches Academy. I have been a part of The Ranches Academy family since 2007 when my two oldest daughters began attending as a kindergartener and first grader. All 7 of my children have been Redhawks! I enjoyed many years of volunteering at the school before working as Mr. Fewkes' 5th grade TA last year. 

I grew up in southern California loving the Lakers, trips to Disneyland, the beach and all things warm and sunny. I attended BYU and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education after completing my student teaching experience in Colonia Dublan, Mexico. I love the natural beauty of Utah, but I’m still NOT a fan of the cold! I love hiking, running, eating fruit, laughing, being in nature, the color yellow, college sports, polka dots, reading, celebrating and spending time with my incredible family. 

To say I’m excited to FINALLY begin my professional teaching career would be a total understatement! Working as a TA confirmed that I still want to be a teacher when I grow up. I love kids; I love watching them learn, grow, stumble, get back up, make connections and build community. Something I appreciate about The Ranches Academy is the focus on a growth mindset. I LOVE do-overs. Do-overs are opportunities to learn, discover, problem solve, be brave and help each other. I believe in creating safe spaces for kids (and adults) to make mistakes and be themselves. I feel this is essential for learning.
